Response to Alesha Dell's Euthanasia

I completely agree with your view on Euthanasia; even though it is against the law n the UK, and in the eyes of god, seen as committing a sin, I understand why people see this act as the only way to end someone's pain and suffering. The person, who has to do commit this act, has an overwhelming decision whether to help the person who may be terminal ill and unable to commit suicide to end their life. Personally I could not help a person end their life; I would feel I have committed first degree murder, even though the person I killed gave me full consent to do so. http://www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/euthanasia/

Response to Fatima Afser - Super size vs Super skinny

I also watched the series of Super Size vs. Super Skinny on Channel 4. It is absolutely fascinating. I had a fair idea of certain eating disorders, but this series showed me an insight to what people actually go through when they are overweight or underweight. I understand that people who have weight problems is not through complete fault of their own, but have a relationship issue with food. People who are over weight tend to eat high fat and sugared foods constantly; they may eat these foods, to make them feel better, their self esteem maybe so low they see comfort eating the only way to boost their confidence. On the other hand people, who are underweight, find it difficult to eat foods. They see starving themselves or eating small amounts of food a day to be the norm. This programme proves support and gives advice to people with food disorders, to help them overcome their eating issues and live a more fulfilled life. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/supersize-vs-superskinny/

Benefit Fraud

Benefit Fraud is wrong and in my eyes. Why are people trying to scam the benefit system? Are they just being greedy?Benefit Fraud is a criminal offence that occurs when somebody knowingly receives Benefit when they are not entitled to it. People who commit fraud can be prosecuted and, if convicted, will have a criminal record. People commit benefit fraud, by working whilst claiming benefits without notifying the information to the benefit system, claiming they are a single person but actually live with a partner or people who do not give the correct information about their full income such as savings.
When people commit benefit fraud, they don't seem to realize that they are stealing money from people who genuinely need it to survive. Is benefit fraud some sort of addiction? Do people get an adrenaline rush when they get away with it the first time? People, who are thinking about commit this crime, don’t because when you start you may not want to stop.

Response to Daryl's Blog on Tattoo's

I don’t see a problem with tattoos but some people do go over board by covering their bodies in them. Within Christianity they see that tattoos are a mark of the beast, but I don’t agree with that as long you don’t have a tattoo of the devil on your body. Tattoos are pieces of art, drawn on the body to express ones personality and feeling. Whether it’s a drawing of a rose or a name of a loved one, why should people have a problem with it?; but when people have tattoos on their face arms legs and back, basically covered in them, it looks a bit weird.

Response to Daryl's Blog on Masturbation

I personally don't see masturbation as being bad; its normal, a part of human experience. It’s a pleasant sensation, which is attained through touching and rubbing of the genitals. This can result in having an orgasm. Some people believe this is wrong, it’s a personal choice, whether you do it or not is up to you. Masturbation can be a great way to release sexual tension or desire without involving anyone else or risking pregnancy and diseases. Masturbation is not harmful or dangerous, if it is done correctly. http://www.sexetc.org/faq/sex/605

Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence can involve, been beaten, verbally attacked or emotionally stressed by an intimate partner or a family relative within the home. British Crime Survey found that there were around 12.9 million incidents of domestic violence acts that constituted non-sexual threats or force against women. The Government defines domestic violence as "Any incident of threatening behavior, violence or abuse psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality", (Women Aid Federation 2003). The cost of domestic violence to the government is a average of 23 billion pounds per year. People shouldn't suffer in silence; this on going issue which needs to be dealt with and address adequately. http://www.womensaid.org.uk/page.asp?section=0001000100050007

Racism

Racism is when a person treats another person differently or unfairly simply because they belong to a different race or culture. It is illegal to be treat people differently or unfairly because of their race and no one has the right to make you feel bad or abuse you.
Racism is carried out in many different ways such as personal attacks of any kind, including violence, written or verbal threats or insults and damage to property, including graffiti. People are racist because they are ignorant, they may of been brought up around racist people including family and friends, so therefore see being prejudice against people of different race or culture to be the norm. http://www.childline.org.uk/Info/Pages/Racism.aspx

Child Abuse

Child Abuse, is an evil act, and is considered as being very bad. The NSPCC is an organization that helps children who are being abused. According to statistics 7% of children experienced serious physical abuse at the hands of their parents or carers during childhood; while 1% of children experienced sexual abuse by a parent or carer and another 3% by another relative during childhood. This a scary statistic, family members abusing children; but what is the reason for why they commit this terrible act? One main reason is because the abuser has been abused themselves when they were children or teenagers. They see abusing children to be the norm. Another shocking statistic is that one to two children every week die from cruelty and that on an average of every ten days one child is killed by their parents in the UK.

Suicide

Is suicide classed as being bad? Some people consider it as a sin, and some people see it as a way out. Everyone has problems, and can usually find ways of dealing with isolated stressful or traumatic events and experiences reasonably well. But sometimes there is a build up of these kinds of events over a period of time. When this happens all the coping strategies that they have put into place are pushed to their limits. These limits vary from person to person. Rape and abuse survivors are very vulnerable. They have to deal with all kinds of memories, flashbacks PTSD, depression, relationship problems, trust issues to name but a few, on top of everyday problems that may crop up. People see suicide as a selfish act, especially when the person leaves behind friends and loved ones to cope with the devastation of their actions. http://survive.org.uk/suicide.html

Stealing

Stealing is went a person takes another person possessions without their consent or knowledge. Stealing is illegal. It is common in young children; taking sweets from the shop or pinching a pound out their mother’s purse. However as they get older parents began to worry that their children becoming harden criminals. Why do people steal? Is it a habit or is it a means to an end? Stealing is wrong, theres no excuse for doing it. http://www.parenting-ed.org/handout3/Specific%20Concerns%20and%20Problems/stealing.htm

Abortion

Is abortion wrong? Well some people say it is some people say it isn't, its a matter of individual opinion. Personally, I would never get my self in that situation; contraception is so important, whether it’s using condoms at all times or taking the pill. But then again, all types of contraceptives aren't 100% effective. Each person who has gone through an abortion has their own reasons for doing so; whether that is because there were too young, not ready to start a family or had an abusive sexual accouter which resulted in them becoming pregnant. Having a abortion shouldn't be decided lightly; get as much information as possible about the procedure, speak to someone you trust about it and once the decision is made there is no going back once it’s done.

Knife Crime

Knife crime has become a serious issue within Black African and Caribbean youths. According to Scotland Yard figures Black youths are suspected of more than half of knife crime among children in the capital, A highly-sensitive report reveals that 124 of the 225 under-18s legally 'proceeded against' for knife offences in the past three months are from the black community. Why are black youths turning on their own people? Gangs of black youths are killing each other, because of the area code they live in and having other gang members disrespecting them; why is that a reason to take someone else’s life? That person is someone’s son or possibly someone’s father and loved one. This has to stop; I hate having to turn on the news channel or hearing from a friend that another black young man has been stabbed to death because he was in the wrong area code or an issue of mistaken identity. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1036833/Over-half-young-knife-suspects-black-Scotland-Yard-figures-reveal.html

Lying Cheaters

Why do people cheat and then lie when confronted? Why don't people tell the truth; its better to come clean and then take steps to work out the problems that resulted into infidelity. Infidelity can have damaging effects to the couple in the relationship and families involved. According to the current infidelity statistics 60% of men and 40% of women are involved in extramarital affair. Many people don't necessarily cheat to have sex with another person, but cheat because they are not having their emotional needs met by their partner. A one night stand may be easier to deal with rather than an affair that has being going on for months or even years. If infidelity has occurred with a family member, friend or an ex the betrayal becomes even stronger, and forgiveness is rare. If you the person have the urge to cheat on your partner, it is best to end the relationship rather then put them through the pain and embarrassment of discovering your infidelity.

Tattoo's

The issue of Tattoos is some what controversial. People believe tattoos are The Mark of the Beast, while others see them as an expression of their personality. The word, tattoo originates from the Tahitian word tattau, which means "to mark". Tattoos are done by injecting ink into the cells of the dermis, a section of the skin that keeps tattoos from fading and stretching. Within today's society, tattoo's is not seen as a major issue; most young people have the done, whether its a picture design or a name of a loved on such as their children or their partner. Personally I would love to have one done, but it’s just the simple fact that I’m worried about the pain. People say it hurts some people say it doesn’t, I suppose it depends on the person pain thresh hold. http://www.coolquiz.com/trivia/explain/docs/tattoo.asp

Prostitution

Prostitution is the act of performing sexual activity in exchange for money. Is this a being bad? Well in my opinion it is. When you hear the word prostitution it makes me think of young girls, half naked on the streets selling their bodies. This is illegal in the UK, but it is a way of earning money. Prostitution is in itself dangerous. Risk of being raped, attacked or contracting a sexual transmitted disease is very common. Prostitution is quite common in the area where I live; but has reduced since the 90’s. Police patrols have been put in place to ensure that kerb crawlers are caught and dealt with accordingly. Prostitution is not a way of life but a way of survival. Women who sell their bodies don’t do it because they like it; but it’s a means to an end.

Teenage Pregnancies

Teen pregnancies in the UK are the highest in Europe. In 2007 it was reported that there were 42,900 conceptions under the age of 18. This is a major issue within today's teenagers. Young people seem to shy away from contraception such as condoms; their reason for this, is because "the sex doesn't feel as good". They have to realize that they are at higher risks of become pregnant and contracting a STDs. Health schemes have been put into place to prevent further increase in teenage pregnancies, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. I watched a documentary on Channel 4 called Hospital which followed five young girls going through the last few weeks of their pregnancies. These girls seemed as if they were in "dream land". Some of them wanted children as young as 13 years old; they thought having a child as young as that would be great fun and exciting, but then reality hit when their babies were born. I thought the programme was very informative, it shows young people who are planning to have a child at their young age is best left until they are much older and financially stable. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7911684.stm

Response to Aisha Flash - Bullying

I completely agree on your issues of bullying. Bullying is a hard experience to go through as i have been through it myself. Bullying can have devastating effects on a individual; feeling of isolation, depression and the feeling to end your own life are some of many issues that people face when being bullied. Teachers have a responsibility to ensure that if bullying is going on in the classroom or playground, procedures are set in place to resolve it. Penalties need to be given to bullies and councillors need to be at hand to help the individuals who have been bullied.

Heroin is a class A drug, which is highly addictive and can kill. Heroin slows down body functioning and substantially reduces physical and psychological pain. Using Heroin can occur many risks; these include overdosing, respiratory failure, coma and higher risk of contracting HIV/AIDs. Possession of Heroin can result in up to seven years in prison, or if the person is intend to supply the drug, sentencing can be life imprisonment. Costs of using Heroin daily can be very expensive; the average cost per day is £100. http://www.talktofrank.com/drugs.aspx?id=186

Binge Drinking / Under age drinking

On weekends young people go out clubbing and end up completely drunk; being sick on the streets and causing fights and confrontation. Why do people do it? Is it peep pressure, because they see other people do it, they feel it necessary to do the same? They don't seem to realize the health consequences. Binge drinking can result in Liver damage which is very serious and can lead to long term illnesses such as cancers and irreversable Liver malfunction. People as young as 13, 14 are out on the streets with their large bottles of Cider causing mayhem. The law is that no persons under the age of 18 should not be given alcohol over the counter, so why are they still allow to do so? Although superstores such as Asda and Tesco have a policy that if you don't look over the age of 25 they have the right to request I.D, corner shops don't follow the policy 100%.

Response to Laura Blog on Smoking

I completely understand your feelings towards smoking. I smoke my self but want to quit. Its damaging my health and it doesn’t smell very nice. Even though I see all the adverts on the stop smoking campaign I still haven’t stopped. Smoking has sadly killed my uncle, as he was a heavy smoker for years. I have only been smoking for a 18 months, I don’t know why I started to be honest, maybe because my friends smoke, its socially accepted and some of my family smoke as well. I'm glad the smoking ban came into power in 2007, as people who don't smoke won’t have to suffer from the effects of passive smoking.

Rape

Rape is an act by when a person forces another person to have sexual intercourse with them against their will. Victims of rape are usually women but young children and teenagers can also be the victims of rape. Rape is a crime and if found guilty the person can be sentenced to a time serve in prison. Most people, who have been raped, know the rapist; they are usually a relative or an acquaintance. When a person has been raped, they may feel a sense of fear, confusion and stress; services are available for people who need to talk to someone in confidence for advice. Rape should never be hidden, or covered up. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/YoungPeople/CrimeAndJustice/TypesOfCrime/DG_10027698
