Why do people cheat and then lie when confronted? Why don't people tell the truth; its better to come clean and then take steps to work out the problems that resulted into infidelity. Many people don't necessarily cheat to have sex with another person, but cheat because they are not having their emotional needs met by their partner. A one night stand may be easier to deal with rather than an affair that has being going on for months or even years. If infidelity has occurred with a family member, friend or an ex the betrayal becomes even stronger, and forgiveness is rare. If you the person have the urge to cheat on your partner, it is best to end the relationship rather then put them through the pain and embarrassment of discovering your infidelity.
